What is the minimum balance to be maintained in FASTag?
On February 10, 2021, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) announced that it decided to withdraw the need to have a minimum amount in the FASTag wallet. The goal of the change is to guarantee a smooth experience at electronic toll booths.
Vehicles can pass through the toll plaza, if the FASTag wallet balance is non-negative and active, means vehicles can pass through toll booths even with a zero balance if their FASTag is active. The money will be taken out of the security deposit if there is no balance. The funds will be refunded to the security deposit when the device is recharged. Means, after crossing the toll plaza, if the account balance becomes negative, the bank can recover the amount from the security deposit, which should be replenished at the time of the next recharge by the user
